Letters From Home
Graphite and Charcoal on Illustration Board 15” X 20”
Letters From Home is a portrait of one of my cell mates. It is symbolic of every inmate who has waited and waited for news from home. Receiving letters from home is a main event in prison. Everyone anticipates their name being called at mail call. And when that long-awaited letter comes, you guard it, wait until you have a private moment to relish each word. You smile while reading, taking it all in, feeling loved, wanted, not forgotten.
